Transfers: I'm already training...sort of

Good morning beloved friends and family,  I hope you all had a wonderful wintery week.  The word of the day is :  sorprendentemente  (remarkably)  As for transfers go, drum roll please...  I'm staying here in Lynn with Elder Gonzalaz. We are going to train a new missionary. As for Elder Gardner, he's headed out to Waterbury.  So much happened this last week. I'll try to fit it in while keeping it short and sweet. Experiencing my first Christmas away from home was very pleasant. Spent a lot of time with the members.  On Friday we got called up to go give a blessing. The family was catholic but their uncle was a member. The mother was there with her son and daughter, both in their 20s or so. She began to say "my daughter's had an ugly experience". I didn't really know what she meant. Come to find out, she's been having some scary experiences with spirits. I wont go into detail but I remember walking into that house feeling so...

"Ha, you're asking the wrong guy... I'm a vampire!"

Buenas días everyone,  Word of the day:  La víspera de Navidad (Christmas Eve)  What an interesting week it has been. Today I have district P-day so I'm getting an early start on the email.  Here are some highlights of the week: A really powerful lesson with Queni, Adelfa, and Pres. Nelson, Attended Zone conference and got my packages, conducted a #LightTheWorld activity, zone leader exchanges, attended Lynnfield baptism, very pleasant Christmas sacrament meeting.  We met with Queni and Adelfa and they made us Mongoo, super good Dominican dish. We shared the Gen. Conf. talk  "Come Follow Me"  and it was perfect for the two of them. If you havnt heard it I advise you to go heed the prophets words. Anyways, because they are afraid of making a covenant and then breaking it, we wanted them to understand that making covenants are far more important than not making covenants. At the end when Pres. Nelson looks into your soul and basically...

Bautismo and singing solo

Hola mis amigos y familia,  The word of the day is: friolento (sensitive to the cold)  Like always, this week flew by.  We had our branch Christmas party and Ever's baptism. I volunteered adimently to sing a solo a capella at the party. For sure out of my comfort zone. After I was getti g kind down on myself because I messed up. A little while after, I realized that, all that mattered to everyone was that I sang. They didn't know I messed up.  This weekend sure was filled with involvement. My companions and I spoke in church, and after we all participated in the baptism in some way or another. For me it was sing another solo a capella AND lead all the music. It was definitely a learning experience. It was super awesome!  As for the baptism, Ever gave his testimony after and it was so powerful for a 13 year old. He is so intelligent and faithful. He learned so incredibly fast. While he spoke I began to think of the people he would influence, and...

Salutations my framily (friends & family), The word of the week is:    estornudar  (to sneeze) Here in Lynn, there is a saying that goes like this "  Lynn Lynn city of sin" . Kinda depressing right? I saw a sign for a local church that said  "Lynn Lynn city of Him!"  I like that version more haha.  Miracle on tuesday. We met with Queni and Adelfa. We brought our branch mission leader Hno. Bernabe, a Spaniard.  He's so awesome. He has very animated facial and hand gestures. He told his life story and helped invite the spirit to our lesson. We focused on the fact that baptism is just the beginning, and that the Lord has SO much more to offer us, ultimately, being able to live with our families forever with the power of the temple. As we finished, we followed up and asked them what their decision was about being baptized. Queni, this huge Dominican, sat there for a second in what felt like an eternity of silence, then proceeded to say ...

The first (s)noel...and miracles

I'm just gonna jump right in and get right to the point.       On the first day December, it FINALLY snowed! After days of hearing Utah getting hit hard, it was a nice change from the dull cloudy weather. Y'know, I've realized why this place is called New England. It's always wet and the sun rarely shines, but that's ok! I love this place though! This week we had El Día de Acción de Gracias (Thanksgiving) with the Fuentas family. She is so sweet. Hermana Fuentas made a pavo (turkey) for the first time.  For a first time it wasn't too bad. I'm gonna have to brag, my mom makes the best turkey. You can email me to tell me otherwise haha. We shared about things we were grateful for and felt such a strong spirit of gratitude and love for our Savior Jesucristo.  We had a super powerful lesson with Queni (kenny) and Adelfa. They are a Dominican couple that are SO receptive to the gospel. We had a wonderful discussion of the Doctrine of Christ. Faith,...
