"Ha, you're asking the wrong guy... I'm a vampire!"
Buenas días everyone,
Word of the day: La víspera de Navidad
(Christmas Eve)
What an interesting week it has been. Today I have district P-day so I'm getting an early start on the email.
Here are some highlights of the week:
A really powerful lesson with Queni, Adelfa, and Pres. Nelson, Attended Zone conference and got my packages, conducted a #LightTheWorld activity, zone leader exchanges, attended Lynnfield baptism, very pleasant Christmas sacrament meeting.
We met with Queni and Adelfa and they made us Mongoo, super good Dominican dish. We shared the Gen. Conf. talk "Come Follow Me" and it was perfect for the two of them. If you havnt heard it I advise you to go heed the prophets words. Anyways, because they are afraid of making a covenant and then breaking it, we wanted them to understand that making covenants are far more important than not making covenants. At the end when Pres. Nelson looks into your soul and basically says "... the time is now to make promises with God..." was when Queni said "I understand why now I need to be baptized". Please pray for both of them!
We have also been working with Daniel and his wife Caridad. She's a member but he isn't. He's on board with the idea of baptism. He's just been super sick the last week. So much so he had facial paralysis. We felt it was right to call and offer a blessing and they agreed. It was a super powerful faith building experience for all of us. So please pray for Daniel as well!
Now on explaining the subject of this email. We went to Salem with our district to give people hot chocolate and ask them how they celebrate Christmas by writing on a whiteboard. Like any city, Salem has a large variety of people. For example we met Athiests, former LDS members, Satanists, LGBTQ+ community, Jewish worshipers, and last but not least vampires. It was the end of our activity and we asked this guy with a big beard in all black and leather and he stopped and said "ha! you're asking the wrong guy, I don't celebrate Christmas, I'm a vampire". We all got a good laugh out of it.
Merry Christmas everyone! I hope you all can feel the love that our Savior has for you! He is always there for you with arms outstretched. Even when you are in a low place, he knows perfectly what that's like!
Love you all!
con mucho amor,
Elder Rasmussen
