Colombian cowboy abducted by aliens

Cómo estamos? Good afternoon!

Hope you all had a sputirutally enlightening and awakening weekend.

This week we found a new service opportunity in East Boston at the local community soup kitchen. It was SOOO nice to talk to all the Hispanics that were there volunteering.

As the morning grew to afternoon, were lines going up the street in both directions. Things started to get a little "excited" so we had to keep people in line and prevent any kind of tussle.

Wednesday night we began teaching a friend named Juan. He's a good guy, has lots of faith, and very interesting experience. We got through the small talk and had already introduced ourselves and the name of the church. After we had shared a few principles, we were wrapping up the lesson. Elder Chalk, being from Texas, proudly presented that he was a cowboy. Juan instantly lit up and said "Me too! I lived on a farm in Colombia!". We all laughed a little and didn't think much of it until he got all serious again and asked us "Do you guys believe in...aliens?". The three of us kind of shrugged, with looks of bewilderment, and asked him why. Turns out, this guy when he was 7, claims he was abducted by aliens. He explained there were lots of blue lights, and the beings poked and probed him. We expressed interest, not trying to be weirded out by saying "Wow, Juan, that's VERY interesting!".

There's always something interesting is going one here now that we have the other Spanish elders.

I had a super good study this in Mormón 9. There are a TON of invitations to repent and become a better person. There's a super neat promise in verse 25 that basically says: "He who believes on my name, without any doubt, I will confirm ALL of my words, even to ALL ends of the earth". I love that. God has been the same, yesterday, today, and will be forever. He has ALWAYS made covenants with His children. He has ALWAYS called prophets. He has ALWAYS loved His children.

Have a wonderful week and keep doing the little things. They have some pretty big effects if you put your faith and trust in them.

con mucho amor,
Elder Rasmussen
