Little piece of Texas

Good day everyone, hope you enjoyed your weekend of independence.

Spanish word of the week: baboso ~ Slimy or slobbery

Miracle this week: (lesson with Martha) we were asking how her reading was going. She then expressed some concerns she had about prayer. Miraculously enough, we planned on teaching about prayer that day without even knowing her needs. T'was a wonderful lesson!

This week on Saturday, our friends Angel and Brian are going to be baptized. It's pretty cool to watch a father and son make this big decision. Please pray that all goes well with the service!

I want to talk about icebergs today. We as humans have a lot of similarities with these huge masses of solid ice. With about about 10-15% of its mass above the surface, and the rest stretching deep into the ocean, we can learn something. Like an iceberg, you can only know so much about someone on the surface. Everyone has something that they keep deep below. That means that we shouldn't base our judgements on that small sliver on the surface.

I read a wonderful and inspiring scripture this last week in the Holy Bible in relation to this idea of icebergs. In John 8:2-11, we read of the mercy and grace that Christ shows for a women who was caught in the act of sin. We too must act like our Savior and not condemn those around us that have made mistakes in their lives. It's time that we be more understanding and merciful for those around us because the reality is that we don't know what's below the surface.

This is all for this week, I love you all and hope that you can find peace and happiness in the teachings of our Savior!

con mucho amor,
Elder Rasmussen
