What's on your belief window?

Buenas días,

Spanish word of the day is: El Hombre Murciélago (Batman)

Hello everyone, all is well here in Revere if you're wondering.
I want to do something a little bit different here in my email today. If you have the time to do this, I highly recommend it, there is a high chance it will change the way you see your behavior and the behavior of others. I hope and pray it will help you gain a greater perspective and love for others.

To start, there is talk titled "The Belief Window" by Hyrum Smith, this is your homework (haha), go listen to it.

In this particular devotional, we learn some very important things about us as human beings (God's children) and why we need our Savior Jesus Christ.

First, we learn of the four basic human needs. They are 1. To live  2. To be loved 3. To feel important 4. Variety

These needs are like a wheel, they are a motivator for the beliefs we have. They are constantly driving the way we act and function.
There is a very important statement I want to focus on that is mentioned in the talk.

"Sin is the result of the deep yearning of an unmet need"

I wish everyone knew this statement. To me, this means that if we see someone suffering from sin or any kind of sorrow or weakness, we should recognize which need isn't being met, and then help them fulfill that need.
There is someone that we know can help the most with our challenges and sufferings. The Great Physician, our Savior Jesus Christ. If our self worth is focused on anyone or thing other than Him, we are in trouble.

To finish, I'd like to share a short scripture story.
Mark 4:39 - When Jesus rebukes the winds and the tempest. Quite frankly, I like to think these words have and should be directed right towards us.

"Peace, be still."

In even our darkest hours of life, we can feel his peace. He hasn't and never will leave us to be swallowed up by even the most insurmountable tempests of life.

con mucho amor,
Elder Rasmussen
