The Promised land

Hey everyone,

Spanish word of the week: Pulpo (Octopus)

All I can say is that I am truly blessed with the areas I have been in. Revere is considered the Promised land amoung the Spanish program because it is one of the three Spanish wards in the mission.

In my studies this week, I found something kind of cool.
When asked the question "How can I be a disciple of Jesus Christ?" I ran into some scriptures I'd like to share.

Upon reading in Matthew 4:24-25 and 5:1 we can learn something quite powerful.

In versus 24-25, it talks about the multitudes of people that followed Jesus. He grew famous for the amazing miracles he performed.
When reading Matthew 5:1 there is a change in words.
"And seeing the multitudes, He went up into a mountain; and when he was set, his disciples came unto him:"

Did you catch that?? The change is multitudes to disciples. One aspect of wanting to become a disciple is that we need to climb the mountain with him. Those that followed him to the mountain were his true disciples.
Jeffrey R. Holland does a really great job at putting it into perspective.

"I believe that...to come to know the truth, to come to salvation, to know something of this price that has been paid, we'll have to pay a token of that same price"

Dear friends and family. This life is not easy because Salvation isn't easy. When we choose to follow Christ, we MUST be ready to struggle. The joy of this is that we have our Savior right there along side us saying "I know what you are feeling, I walked this walk a long time ago".

I believe it is necessary for ALL of us to experience our own "Gethsemane" so to speak, so that we can know of a fraction of what Christ went through.

I love you all and hope you all and grow closer to your Savior each and every day.

con mucho amor,
Elder Rasmussen
