Las Montañas y los Valles

Image
Salutations from rainy New England,  Spanish word of the day:  bizco  (cross-eyed)  Like the title says, this week there were mountains and valleys. If you think about it, in this life, we are climbing a mountain. Sometimes, this mountain has a valley we need to go into in order to reach the top. Keep climbing!  A super neat thing happened the other night. I got a friend request from a lady in Colombia. She messaged first and it was apparant she had met missionaries previously, but in a very amazing way. She told us she had a dream a long time ago being in a train station and saw to angels, that looked very human.  Not to long ago, she was heading home from work and saw those two same people (missionaries) on the bus, they were in fact the same faces she saw in this dream. WOW!  Because of the quarantine, she hasn't found any missionaries until now... US!  This reminds me of Moroní 7:36 that angels DO exist!  The valley this week was that my ...

Our life "porpoise"

Image
Oy todo bem, bon día, Portuguese (creole) word of the day: Basofu  (a good looking guy)  Trying to mix things up here. That's one thing we need as humans; variety.  A funny addition I forgot in my previous email (to explain the title). Here's how the story goes: My comp and I are chatting with at least 20 people on Facebook at once. There was this guy that we started to have a really good and deep conversation about theology. We began talking about what the purpose is on this earth. Now, a side note, he was speaking English but obviously knew Spanish (bless his heart). Every time he meant to say "purpose" it was written as "porpoise". I could help but think of the movie The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.  "Don't vurry, the porpoise vil protect you!"  That was a good laugh. Had a surprise of about 3 inches of snow on Saturday morning. Never thought I'd have to ever see it again but New England will keep you on your toes like that.  Lately, I...

And a Russian Bible was placed

Image
Dear family and friends,  Spanish word of the day:   madurez  (mature/ripeness)  What a wonderful and strange time we live in!  We had some nice surprised that happened this week. We got out of the house for once, like, rEally out of the house.  President and his wife called us saying they had a Russian Bible request. They dropped it off to us saying "please meet up with the man and give it to him in person". My comp and I just stood in the apartment just looking at the Bible for 10 asking ourselves "if we are in social isolation, how the heck are we going to meet the guy in person??"  Eventually, we got it all figured out and drove 20 miles to Maynard. We placed the book at a library behind the trash can as the guy requested. What was nice is that we got to drive through the Mass wetlands/ countryside which was quite peaceful.  Our landlord Tom from Vietnam bought us TWO full size Costco pizzas Another surprise is that we started teaching someone...

I stand as a witness

Dear friends and family,  I hope you all had a nice weekend. I know it's spring break, so I hope you are all having a nice stay-cation.  Spanish word of the day:   Tentempié  (Snack)  The highlight for me had to have been General Conference. In the past, I'll admit, I have never been good at staying awake during this event. It's not that I didn't care, so much as to I just didn't invest my time and effort into preparing for it.  I have to say, I was fixed on what each speaker said. Not just because it was going to be the "most memorable conference" but because of the time I had spent studying and preparing. Having been in the mission field for almost 6 months, I have grown to have a personal witness of the Restoration of the Church.  I add my personal witness all that was said. I KNOW that the Savior lives! and because he loves us, He wouldn't let us perish in darkness. He and the Father did in fact appear to Joseph Smith. It all began with a simple pr...
