There will be angels around you to lift you up
There will be angels around you to lift you up
Dear family and Friends,
What an eventful week it has been. Life here in the MTC is....well...let's just say I'm starting to get anxious and antsy to get out of here. I love it, but you can only be around so many missionaries for so long haha.
First off, there has been an unusual amount of medical emergencies here. First, while we were in a break for class, Elder Bird and I saw a missionary had fallen flat on his face outside. I had this feeling we needed to go help even though he was with a bunch of other people. As we approached him, we asked his district members what had happened. They said he just passed out while he was walking, as I was helping him sit on the curb, Elder Bird used his zone leader phone to call for help. I think it was a good thing we went out because the teacher there didn't have the number to call for help, neither could anyone else.
The second one happened THAT night. There was an elder that came into our building and his insulin pump was malfunctioning. Basically, if he hadn't gotten help, his blood sugar would have shot up and who knows what would have happened. So, Elder Bird yet again called for help and got it all situated.
Then, last night, after we had finished our studies, there was an ambulance, police cruiser, and fire engine parked outside our dorm with their lights on. You can imagine the flood of missionaries just aching to know what was going on. Anyways...
On Tuesday, for our devotional, we had the awesome opportunity to hear from Elder Uchtdorf. He is a really awesome man. I can really say he and all the other members of the quorum and presidency are inspired of God. My district and I sat in like the second row so I have never been so close to an apostle. It is kind of funny, the missionaries treat them like celebrities but really they are just humble servants called of God. He spoke about as missionaries, we can only control a few things. Our thoughts, feelings, and actions. Those the only things we as missionaries (and human beings) can control in our lives. We can choose to be happy, we can choose to help someone, we can choose to think good about someone. He said that success is based off of control of these three things, not the number of baptisms. Ah man that was awesome. Later, he quoted a scripture in D&C 84-88. It is really awesome because it says: "...There will be angels around you to lift you up."
I full on believe that is true. The definition of an angel is one who walks with Jesus Christ and shares His good word and example. It is that simple. I have seen many angels in my life. As a missionary, I have the opportunity to be an angel to someone else.
So, I highly highly encourage you all to strive to be an angel in someone's life. I know you have all seen angels in your lives, go be one for someone else. We are all here on this earth to help each other. We are all on the same team. We are all children of God no matter how old or young we are, no matter what our skin color looks like, no matter what our circumstance is. We are all his children. We can be an angel in someone's life.
I love you all! Thank you all so much for the love and support. You are all angels in my life!
Until next time.
Con mucho amor
-Elder Rasmussen
