La Privación de sueño

Saludo,  We had a bit of a crazy week.  It started last Sunday when the 2nd councelor of the bishopric informed me that though I wouldn't be giving my talk, I'd still need to translate for those that were speaking from the Stake. I feel proficient with the language, but it was still a pretty big headache to figure out how not to butcher the messages they prepared. I'm grateful for the patience that the members have for missionaries.  That evening, we slept over at the Portuguese and English elders apartment so we could take Elder Merkley to the airport at the crack of dawn. Instead of getting sleep, Elder Shaw, Merkely and I decided to just stay up all night and wait it out playing card games. For Elder Merkely it was just a day trip to Utah for his consolarte appointment in order to return to Mexico. So, staying up late again, we picked him back up from the airport at 12am. I can't complain though, I always enjoy getting to drive through Boston whenever I can.  Also...

No me puedo quejar

Hello hello,  I hope you all are staying well, dodging and weaving the punches that life throws at you.  This last week we had some nice weather. It's called "The Master's Touch". It was a small blessing in disguise. In my studies the other day, I was reading how Alma and Amulek healed Zeezrom from being bed ridden to immediately jumping to his feet. I pondered on that, and asked myself "why don't we see miracles this big in our day?". W...

Leaving Waterbury

Good morning!  I hope you've had a wonderful week. This last one for me was a lot of happy and sad as I left Waterbury. I'm going to miss the friendships I made there. Though the city may be dirty and rundown, the people aren't. I'm glad I was able to serve among such humble and kind people.  I'm now living in Framingham with my new companion Elder Merkely. He's from Hyde Park, Utah (Logan area). He had to return from Veracruz Mexico, and hopefully he can get back out there, as they have been starting to send some back.  First night here I immediately fell in love with this place downtown. We went to this small hispanic market/restaurant for dinner and boom. .. hispanics. ...everywhere!  This place was bumpin' with Gutamatecos, Mexicanos, and various other central American cultures. Framingham is also known as the "Brazilian capital". There is a very strong Portuguese presence.  We have the privilege to live on the 6th floor of a small studio apart...
