Run, forest, run!
Greetings from Waterbury, the origin of the first Mickey Mouse watch.
I hope all is well, warm, and whimsical.
Lately, it's been cooling down a bit more to the point where it's sweater weather. The leaves are a good indication of the recent change in weather. I've enjoyed being able to go on forest runs and get away from all the stresses and worries. There are pictures below of Elder Barbee and I.
Yesterday was zone conference and there were a few things that I learned. I mostly want to focus on obedience. Some may not know, but the Massachusetts Boston Mission is known for having the most standards enforced. Some may know, that growing up, I wasn't necessarily the best at following rules.
The elder that spoke about obedience has a similar disposicion. I learned something very interesting and important.
God gives us commandments/standards/rules whatever you call it, to prepare us for future choices. Think about it, it's all over the scriptures. Abraham, Moses, Nephi, etc. They all were asked to make small decisions of being obedient before they made a large decision. With Abraham, it was to sacrifice his own son. With Moses it was the exodus of his people. With Nephi it was killing Laban, or building a ship.
We are no different. It's part of God's unchanging nature to try us so that we can be trusted in the future. We read from my favorite scriptures Alma 37:6-7 and 2 Nephi 28:30 that the Lord works by simple means, line by line, precept by precept to cause great things to happen.
So ask yourself, when it comes to the things that the Lord has asked us to do, do you complain? or act without a doubt? I invite you to reflect on this.
When we are exactly obedient, the Lord blesses us with miracles!
Love you all! Stay strong, hurrah for Israel!
