Happy Monday! Want to wish all the padres a happy (late) dad's day!

Spanish word of the day: Bien onda/mal onda: Good vibes/bad vibes

A little update:
Humberto- Wants to be baptized, but has a few challenges with the Word of Wisdom, please pray for him!
Martha- Strong catholic beliefs, but has determined desire to learn more about the restored gospel, please also pray for her!

This week I'd like to share a little somethin' from my studies.

This is so cliche, but before the mission, I kind of took the Bible for granted. I knew it was the word of God, but I never REALLY got to know it until now.
In the 22nd chapter of Matthew, we read of the two great commandments.
1. Love God with all your heart, soul, and mind
2. Love your neighbor as you love yourself

I want to focus on the "...as thyself" part. We as human beings can be very kind and loving to others, but inside we can be so awfully harsh and critical to ourselves. Why is that so? To be completely honest, I don't know why, there can be a million reasons why we do this, everyone is different.

There is something I do know that helps. It's called Repentance. Maybe I can help you look at this word in a new way. When we hear this word we often think, go-to-the-bishops-office-and-confess kind of deal. Sure, this can be for serious things, but in all simplicity, repentence is making a change to face God by using the enabling-power of the Atonement.

With that said, we need to understand we can make any kind of changes in our lives through Christ, and only him. That means we can change falling into the habit of thinking those nasty thoughts about ourselves. We can have constructive thoughts, not destructive.

I know that with whatever trials you are facing right in this moment, you can find hope, peace, and self-confidence through our Savior!

con mucho amor,
Elder Rasmussen
