The work must go on

Good afternoon my dear friends and family,  Spanish word of the day:   La papiroflexia  (origami)  Things are back to normal now...mostly. With transfers, I got a new companion which means I finally got to stop living our of a suitcase. My new companion is Elder Nuttall. He is from Georgia and like my last three companions, is heading home. It's not normal to send home 3 of your companions but what can I say, I guess I'm too much to handle.  We have started to get settled in with the whole quarantine. We've accepted the fact that it's not going to be for a little while before we can get out. Not gonna lie, I've experienced all the stages of grief since we found out.  With that being said, we have really gotten to work. We set up two baptismal dates within two days. That means we have a total of three date. Please pray for these to happen! Also, please pray for our friends Huber, Jovanny, and Peter.  This right here is evidence that God's work doesn't s...

¿Que lo queeee familia y amigos?  Word of the day is:   trabalingua  (tounge-twister)  This week I had to send home my companion. It was really weird having to go to the airport and watch 23 missionaries head home.  I am currently with the Portuguese Elders down the road. I head back to my apartment this Wednesday to get a new companion. I've had to be working my area by myself. This means lessons over the phone with me, myself, and I...and the Holy Ghost of coarse. It has made me realize how much I really need my companion.  We currently have one person on date for baptism and began teaching two new people this past week. Not too shabby for the current situation. If you could all include Huber, Jovanni, and Yordi, in your prayers, that would be super awesome. They are having a lot of challenges working against them as they are progessing in His gospel.  Had an interesting conversation with a member about the current world situation.  We were talk...

The quarantine countdown begins

Good day dear friends and family,  The word of the day is:   la suerte (luck)  I'll start with the bad news then get to good news.  We have been put on a temporary social distance until March 30th. This means no leaving the apartment unless we need to get food or take a short break from online proselyting.  Good news is that before this leave of absence, we were able to set a Baptismal date for our friend Huber. We had been talking about the plan of Salvation and it just clicked for him. It's going to be a little complicated with not being able to go to church, but we are super excited.  Another thing, my companion has to go home because he has a compromised immune system. So there's a lot of uncertainty here. There is something I am sure of is that there is a prophet of God on the earth TODAY!  I KNOW that His gospel has been restored to the earth today.  My dear friends and family, I ask that you share the gospel in this time of need to tho...

We taught Joseph Smith about Joseph Smith...

Good afternoon my friends and family, Word of the week:  año bisiesto (Leap year)  I had the opportunity to go on exchanges with the Zone Leaders. We didn't plan on it, but we made a visit to a man named Joseph Smith. He's from Philly and he's African American. Very nice guy, said he was baptized a long time ago. We were helping him read the Book of Mormon when we started talking about it Joseph Smith Jr. (the prophet). Super funny when he realized "Woa, we have the same name!" and we were like "you sure do". Super funny.  We Recently had a wake-up call of a lesson with our good friend Huber (pronounced "Uber"). He's one to talk a ton about his life so it's really hard to go anywhere. We sat him down and asked what his expectations were. We then state our expectations for him. He kind of had an "aha" moment when we said we want him to be baptized. It totally changed his view. That was a super awesome experience of what it mean...
