District Pday

Hey guys, Hope you all had a nice week. I heard that the smoke has cleared up somewhat, I bet that's nice to be able to breath some fresh air. Anyway, things are starting to roll forward here in Hartford. We've been able to get our english class moving along with constant contact with our friends. Noemi- she's met with missionaries for a few months now. We reviewed her understanding of the Restoration and she believes all of it. Afterwards, we discussed the next step which is to prepare for baptism. She also agrees and wants to set a date. She even asked what happens after that and we got to explain the temple a little bit. Claudia- she was orignially studying the bible with us. As we were studying the Doctrine of Jesus Christ, we felt inspired to share a verse from the Book of Mormon. She loved it! We left her with some inspired questions to pray about. Today was our district p-day so that is why I'm writing this so late. It was a little weird to think that this was th

Another Week Down

Hey Fam, I was telling Mom and Dad that from now on I'm going to share my experiences with the immediate family. I feel that a lot of people are moving on with their lives and some of these experiences I share are very sacred to me.  This last week we were able to get in contact with a few people that have been on radio silence.  Maria- She has 3 kids and is from Mexico City. She had a really good bond with the previous missionaries but they all of the sudden had to leave. She told us that while they were gone, she and her daughter still continued to read, pray, and receive answers from the Book of Mormon. She also mentioned that she knows that she needs to be baptized. Daniel- He's kind of funny. He is very familiar with the church. His ex-wife, mother, daughter, and other relatives are all members. He was even married by a bishop in Mexico. He keeps telling us that he knows that what we have to share is true, but just feels like he can't participate because of a life-lo

Ask and ye shall receive

Hi friends and family, This last week I got some pretty interesting news. President Brough called and asked how I would feel with training in an area where neither I or my companion are familiar with. Naturally I told him I would do anything he asked me to do. The previous week, I told him that for my last transfer, I could really use a change. Whether it was a new area, moving back to spanish, training, or a new companion.Ask and ye shall receive, I guess I should be less specific next time. He gave me all of those. So, I will be in Harford with a brand new missionary in a brand new district and an area that is completely unknown. It's the last leg of the marathon and I plan on finishing as strong as I possibly can. Lately, to help wrap things up and have some closure, I'm making a small book with all the life lessons I've learned while here. That way when someone asks me the silly question "How was your mission?", I can hand them this handy dandy book of wisdom.

A friend from West Africa

Dear friends and family, Man have we had some weather. From never-ending rainstorms to ninety degrees and ninety percent humidity. I'm not one to hold back with perspiring, so you can imagine my constant fear of sweating through my pants... Anyways, this last week we experienced the Lord's direction, protection, and guidance.  To start, we recently had a dinner with Brother Susa, who is very advanced in age and wisdom. With his wife, they both served a mission from their home a couple of years ago. They were called to specifically help the large Liberian population here in Providence, and more specifically, organize a branch in the center of the city. They made many wonderful relationships and life-long connections with those who had recently immigrated from Africa. Sadly, the branch was folded into the ward down south with little to no warning. Tragically, this caused hundreds of members to go inactive. A large percentage didn't have means of transportation, nor a good sou

New Mission President

Hi, it's been a while. I've been doing pretty well. I can't complain, we've been extremely busy running around Providence. That in and of itself is a blessing in disguise. Staying busy is what's keeping me going right now.  The week before last our new mission president arrived. President Brough, his wife, and five children are so awesome. They've made a huge sacrifice to up and move their family to a not so friendly place all because they love God.  This last week we got the aftermath of hurricane Elsa. It wasn't nearly as severe as last years, but nevertheless it rained like cats and dogs all day friday.  Like I said earlier, we've been driving all over the city. One might disagree, but I would much rather do visits in person. So, that's what we have been doing. I want to highlight a visit we had with our friend Victor. He was a self-referral asking to feel closer to God. He told us over the phone a few weeks ago that he's had some demons in hi
