Dear friends and family,  I'd first like to thank you for the kind and loving messages you sent this last week. It really means a lot!  As for this last week, the weather was nice and hot until a couple days ago. It all of the sudden dropped down into the low forty's. I was able to check out downtown Providence. It's a nice place. In fact, it felt a lot like SLC in the sense that you can walk round the center in less than an hour.  This last week we saw some good progress with our friend Jackie. She has been shopping around for a church to attend and she attended with us. Overall, she left feeling a lot better than before she went in.  Lately, after we finish our work for the evening, we've been going down to the club house theater room to watch the Chosen. Add that with the two 3 gallon containers of ice cream a member gave us, you can say we are living the good life.  Thank you for your continued support. May God continue to bless your efforts in this great wo...

Le salió el tiro por la culata

Good afternoon,  This is a saying I learned this week. It means: "it backfired on him".  This last week I was hoping to stay at least one more transfer with Elder Jones, but life had a different plan. I'll be going down to Warwick, RI. We were able to eat dinner with our branch President. Even though it was outside and socially distanced, it was so nice to be back in person. I have felt a strong shift in my mission recently for putting more of energy into member retention. It is just as rewarding as helping someone come unto baptism.  It reminds me of the parable Jesus told about the lost sheep and the prodigal son. If you haven't already, go watch episode 1 of the 2nd season of the Chosen. It portrays very well the mercy and love that C...

May the fourth be with you...

Greetings,  The title of this email had nothing to do with what I have to say, I just wanted to give a little reminder.  Today started off a little different than usual. At 5:00 am, the fire alarm in our building was going off. So, we grabbed a few valuable items and made our way down 6 flights of stairs. After about 15 minutes of waiting outside with our new friend Nick, from Illinois, the firemen said the coast was clear. I shrugged at Elder Jones suggesting we get an early start on our excercises. It was quite nice after all.  Elder Jones has been teaching me a lot of good things lately. He is very talented with the guitar, so he's shown me a chord or two. We also performed a musical number this last week in Zone Conference and it went quite well.  This last week I've been really focused on a verse 22 in the first chapter of James.  "be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves"  Recently a lot of our friends have been flaking...
